LINUX FOUNDER Linus Torvalds has slammed a Google security expert's "bullshit" approach 

current approaches to cyber security during a recent discussion.

The Finnish-American software developer, who took part in a talk about new whitelisting features destined for Linux, disapproved of the approaches of many security bods.

In particular, he criticized the work of Kees Cook, who's a member of Google Pixel's security team. Torvalds has previously branded him as idiotic.

As The Register reports, Cook recently wrote a request to pull hardened user copy changes for v4.15-rc1, saying: "Please pull these hardened usercopy changes for v4.15-rc1.

"This significantly narrows the areas of memory that can be copied to/from userspace in the face of usercopy bugs by adding explicit whitelisting for slab cache regions," he said in the posting.

"This has lived in -next for quite some time without major problems, but there were some late-discovered missing whitelists.

"So a fallback mode was added just to make sure we don't break anything. I expect to remove the fallback mode in a release or two."

Torvalds, naturally, wasn't too happy about Kees' post. In fact, he doubts that the points he raised are actually useful. He responded by saying: "This merge window is not going to be one where I can take a leisurely look at something like this."

With the support of the likes of Paolo Bonzini, Cook attempted to explain his stance on the code and counter Torvald's concerns.

He continued: "This is why I introduced the fallback mode: with both kvm and sctp (ipv6) not noticed until late in the development cycle, I became much less satisfied it had gotten sufficient testing."

Torvalds was far from satisfied with what Cook had to say, saying: "So honestly, this is the kind of completely unacceptable 'security person' behavior that we had with the original user access hardening too, and made that much more painful than it ever should have been.

"It is not acceptable when security people set magical new rules, and then make the kernel panic when those new rules are violated."

His approach to security is completely different to Cook. Instead, he believes that security problems are just bugs, and he doesn't believe in changing the kernel completely. 

He said: "That is pure and utter bullshit. We've had more than a quarter century _without_ those rules, you don't then suddenly walz [sic] in and say 'oh, everbody [sic] must do this, and if you haven't, we will kill the kernel'."

"The fact that you 'introduced the fallback mode' late in that series just shows how incredibly broken the series started out."

He added: "The important part about 'just bugs' is that you need to understand that the patches you then introduce for things like hardening are primarly  for debugging ."

"I'm not at all interested in killing processes. The only process I'm interested in is the _development_ process, where we find bugs and fix them."

"As long as you see your hardening efforts primarily as a 'let me kill the machine/process on bad behaviour', I will stop taking those shit patches."

"Some security people have scoffed at me when I say that security problems are primarily 'just bugs'. Those security people are f*cking morons."

HACKERS HAVE HIJACKED various government-run websites with Coinhive's notorious Monero miner, which steals visitors' processing power to mine cryptocurrency. 

Thousands of websites have been infected by the 'cryptojacking' malware, including the UK's Information Commissioner's Office, Student Loan Company and the Scottish NHS Helpline. In the US, the Indiana government and the US courts system were also discovered to be running the Monero-mining script.

The ICO's website has been taken offline by its administrators as they attempt to fix the problem, and is still unavailable at the time of writing.

As discovered by security researcher Scott Helme, the infection came through a third-party plugin called Browsealoud, developed by Texthelp, which aims to help those with impaired vision use the web.

MICROSOFT IS testing a version of Windows that does away with conventional passwords altogether.

Windows S, which was recently turned from a fully fledged OS to a Windows 10 mode, is planning to leverage the advances in alternatives to traditional passwords which abound in Windows 10 under the Windows Hello banner, to make the experience more secure.

Options in Build 17093 include mobile authentication, where a one-use code is generated by an app, and FIDO keys, such as those made my Yubico which allow a USB device to act as authentication. Biometric options include facial recognition and fingerprint scanning.

If the experiment is successful it may well end up on full versions of Windows too.

Microsoft is one of many companies that have been pushing to move into a ‘post password age'. We're all advised that we have to remember hundreds of passwords and make them all different in order to be completely secure. It's just not feasible, and so alternatives are constantly being sought.

Retina scanning is some way off, but add-on fingerprint scanners are becoming more common for devices that don't have them built in.

FIDO keys are an agreed standard that is rolling out to many sites across the web. They can be bought as USB A, USB C and thumbnails for permanent insertion (fnar). They can also be used with NFC for mobile.

CANONICAL HAS made the wishes of its users come true again as it brings another major app to Linux users for the first time.

This time it's popular team platform Slack. The secret sauce is Ubuntu's "Snap" packages, a form of containerisation which puts an app into a little bubble that makes it run in the Linux environment. At Christmas, the technique was used to bring a desktop Spotify to Linux for the first time.

The important thing here is that Snaps, first launched in 2016, run on any Linux distro, not just Canonical's own Ubuntu. Named specifically were Linux Mint, Manjaro, Debian, ArchLinux, OpenSUSE and Solus. Not only that, they work across desktop, server, cloud and IoT.

"Slack is helping to transform the modern workplace, and we're thrilled to welcome them to the snaps ecosystem", said Jamie Bennett, VP of Engineering, Devices & IoT at Canonical.

"Today's announcement is yet another example of putting the Linux user first - Slack's developers will now be able to push out the latest features straight to the user. By prioritising usability, and with the popularity of open source continuing to grow, the number of snaps is only set to rise in 2018."

By bringing Slack to Linux, Ubuntu has broken down a major disconnect in what has become one of the most popular workplace apps in recent years. Slack has even endorsed it as the official build for Linux with a direct download link on its own pages.

Whether, in the event, anyone will actually need Slack to run on Raspberry Pi is another matter, but amongst thousands of Snaps that have already been made, Slack and Spotify are demonstrations of how, by reducing the cost of developing a Linux version, containerisation is levelling the playing field for those that don't want to go all in on Windows but still want the mainstream apps. µ

IN AN ALMOST unprecedented move, Linus Torvalds has delayed the release of a final build of the Linux Kernel 4.15, instead announcing an unusual ninth release candidate, the first time he had felt he has to do so since 2011.

And you can be fairly sure that Torvalds is not happy with the release because everyone has been busy dealing with the fallout from Meltdown and Spectre, even though the impact on Linux is minimal.

Torvalds has said that there are still some networking fixes to sort, and a "very subtle boot bug" has been discovered as recently as Saturday and so, as he puts it "it just didn't feel right to say that we're done".

Rc9 is "mostly arch(itecture) updates… and drivers. And some core networking. And then there's various random misc fallout".

Torvalds has had to start backing up future pull requests meant for kernel 4.16 until the situation is resolved. Torvalds doesn't expect a further delay, however.

"I really expect no more delays after this. We've had rc9's before, but they have been pretty rare (the last one was 3.1-rc9 back in 2011 - that release went all the way to rc10, and I really don't think we'll do that this time _despite_ all the CPU bug mitigation craziness)."

OPEN SOURCE OUTFIT Red Hat has reached an agreement to acquire technology start-up CoreOs in a deal worth $250m.

Founded in 2013, CoreOS develops the container orchestration platform Kubernetes and other container-based systems. Red Hat, which provides enterprise open-source solutions, is looking to strengthen its grip on these areas.

Red Hat said the acquisition forms part of its "vision of enabling customers to build any application and deploy them in any environment with the flexibility afforded by open source".

The company already offers broad Kubernetes and container-based systems, but by bringing CoreOS into the fold it'll be able to "further accelerate adoption and development of the industry's leading hybrid cloud platform for modern application workloads".

On announcing the deal, Red Hat praised the start-up for popularising "lightweight Linux operating systems optimized for containers" and said it's "well-regarded" as a leader in container technology.

CoreOS Tectonic is the firm's main product. It's a Kubernetes platform that provides enterprises with access to automated operations and portability across private and public cloud providers.

It also offers an enterprise container registry called CoreOS Quay, as well as Container Linux. The latter automates important security updates.

Paul Cormier, president of products and technologies at Red Hat, said the deal will enable his company to accelerate its hybrid cloud and modern app deployments.

"The next era of technology is being driven by container-based applications that span multi- and hybrid cloud environments, including physical, virtual, private cloud and public cloud platforms," he said.

"Kubernetes, containers and Linux are at the heart of this transformation, and, like Red Hat, CoreOS has been a leader in both the upstream open source communities that are fueling these innovations and its work to bring enterprise-grade Kubernetes to customers.

"We believe this acquisition cements Red Hat as a cornerstone of hybrid cloud and modern app deployments."

Alex Polvi, CEO of CoreOS, explained that its relationship with RedHat "began many years ago as open source collaborators developing some of the key innovations in containers and distributed systems, helping to make automated operations a reality".

Polvi added: This announcement marks a new stage in our shared aim to make these important technologies ubiquitous in business and the world." µ

LINUX DISTRO MAKER Canonical has announced another major release in its series of ‘Snap' apps, bringing Windows/Mac functionality to Linux.

This time it's Skype, which has been available for Linux for years but has always lagged behind other platforms in terms of functionality.

By containerising it in a Snap, Linux users (not just those on Canonical's Ubuntu distro) will be able to use the full app as it appears on other platforms. Presumably in all its car-sick glory. The full list of compatible distros includes Linux Mint, Manjaro, Debian, Arch Linux, OpenSUSE, Solus and of course Ubuntu. Many more are served unofficially.

"We're delighted to welcome Skype to the snaps ecosystem," said Jamie Bennett, VP of Engineering, Devices & IoT at Canonical. "Skype and the ever-growing number of snaps it joins looks to put the Linux user first, allowing them to enjoy the latest versions upon release and provide a wider range of applications for users to choose from."

Last month, Canonical announced the arrival of collaboration platform Slack as a Snap, bringing the hugely popular workplace application to Linux users. Skype continues the rollout of significant apps, bringing them to Linux users as part of the ongoing cooperation between Windows and Linux.

"Skype has been enabling the world's conversations for over ten years," said Jonáš Tajrych, Senior Software Engineer at Skype, Microsoft.

We want to be able to deliver the same high-quality experience on Linux as we do on other platforms. Snaps allow us to do just that, by giving us the ability to push the latest features straight to our users, no matter what device or distribution they happen to use."

The snap is called 'classic Skype' suggesting it won't be the Universal Windows Platform application, which is a blessing because it'll work.

Snap also includes a rollback feature, so if anything goes wrong with the latest version, users can move straight back to the last known working configuration. µ

OPEN SOURCE productivity suite LibreOffice has reached version 6.0 with a bevvy of tweaks.

The popular alternative to Microsoft's paid for product celebrates its 7th anniversary with a major update across Windows, Linux and  macOS, with cloud augmentation to allow users to work on the web too.

Improvements in multimedia embedding within Microsoft formats like .docx and .pptx has been significantly improved, thanks to improved ActiveX compatibility, plus there's now an option to turn your documents straight into E-PUB e-books. You can also import files from QuarkExpress.

An improved Form menu has been added for, well, designing forms, and there's easier access to special characters - great for those of us that type "µ" a lot.

ODF 1.2-compliant functions SEARCHB, FINDB and REPLACEB have been added to CALC, plus you can now select a range of cells and export them as a picture - either jpg or png.

OPEN SOURCE software is 20 years old this weekend.

At first, you might say "really, is that all?" but let's be clear on what we (and the industry) means by 'open source'.

It's not to do with copyright either. US law didn't allow software to be copyrighted until 1974, but that's still 24 years in the wilderness. Open source software still has a copyright. Somewhere. Lots of them in fact.

Open source is not free. Well, it usually is, but that's not the point. Open source means literally, that - the source code is open and editable and anyone can have it and modify it under the terms of a set licence. It's free to the end user, providing you don't profit from it yourself, and (in most cases) you contribute any changes you make back to the community.

It's a utopian dream that doesn't exist in many other industries - software by the people, for the people. But what's more amazing still is that it manages to sit alongside capitalism beautifully too - the software is free, the enterprise support will cost you. It's a wonder that the far-right hasn't singled it out as "leftie snowflake nonsense" yet. 

THE MOZILLA FOUNDATION has launched 'Project Things', a framework of software that is designed to bring fragmented Internet of Things (IoT) devices together.

Project Things will allow users to create their own IoT hub using a Raspberry Pi, using both web-based commands and although still in the experimental stage, a voice interface.

Mozilla explains its reasoning using an argument that the INQUIRER has been preaching for a while: "Each vendor typically creates a custom application that only works for their own brand. If the future of connected IoT devices continues to involve proprietary solutions, then costs will stay high, while the market remains fragmented and slow to grow.

"We believe the future of connected devices should be more like the open web. The future should be decentralised and should put the power and control into the hands of the people who use those devices. This is why we are committed to defining open standards and frameworks."

The gateway will offer a secure URL for users to see the dashboard for their products.

The Things Gateway includes an IFTTT style rules engine, a home floor plan to map devices and sensors, virtual devices so you can set up before you buy the real device, add-on systems for new devices and protocols as they emerge and OAuth, to ensure safe linking with third parties.

Mozilla provides a complete walk-through to allow you to get started quickly and "takes care of the complicated stuff" so a universal smart home is in the grasp of all users.

Although some devices such as Athom's Homey and Samsung Smartthings have made strides in creating a cross-protocol smart home, there is still a long way to go and all are at the whims of the companies.

For example, recently, Blink, a brand of camera that we have championed in the past removed support for the community built Smartthings integration, without offering a replacement.

Technically, it did nothing wrong (though we suspect its recent acquisition by Amazon may have something to do with it), but it shows that whimsy is a factor in device support.

Compania a a declarat insa ca aceasta scurgere de informatii nu a compromis in mod neaparat securitatea.


Intr-o declaratie, compania a afirmat ca securitatea iPhone nu se bazeaza pe "secretul codului sau sursa". Compania a mai aratat ca a incurajat mereu utilizatorii sa tina pasul cu actualizarile sistemului sau de operare. 


 


Actuala versiune a sistemului de operare este iOS 11. 


Potrivit Apple, 93% dintre utilizatorii sai folosesc iOS 10 sau iOS 11. Este posibil ca aceste dispozitive sa nu mai utilizeze codul sursa scurs pe intenet. 


 


Scurgerea codului - numit iBoot - a fost raportata de site-ul de stiri Motherboard. 


 


Codul incepe cu afirmatia "Acest document este proprietatea Apple Inc. Este considerat confidential si proprietate". 


 


Expertul in securitate cibernetica Alan Woodward, din cadrul Universitatii din Surrey a declarat ca este surprinzator ca acest cod a ajuns pe internet. "Codul sursa pentru sistemul de operare al unei companii este precum bijuteriile coroanei - este pazit foarte bine", a declarat el pentru BBC. 


 


Cercetatorii in domeniul securitatii si hackerii ar putea studia codul, pentru a vedea daca exista defectiuni care ar putea face posibil accesul neautorizat, a adaugat Woodward. 


"Apple ar trebui sa fie ingrijorata, deoarece daca cineva a pus mana pe acest cod sursa, ar fi putut obtine si altele. Presupunand ca este autentic, acesta provine de undeva din interior". 


 


Apple a declarat: "Codul sursa vechi de trei ani pare sa fi aparut pe internet, insa, prin design, securitatea produselor noastre nu depinde de secretul codului nostru sursa. Exista multe straturi de protectie hardware si software incorporate in produsele noastre si mereu ne incurajam clientii sa actualizeze la cele mai noi versiuni software, pentru a beneficia de cele mai recente protectii". 

Dupa ce defectiunea a fost descoperita, KR-CERT (Echipa Computer Emergency Response din Coreea de Sud) a avertizat cetatenii cu privire la bug. Denumita CVE-2018-4878, se crede ca defectiunea permite hackerilor sa profite de documentele Office cu continut Flash malitios incorporat, distribuite prin intermediul e-mail-ului. 

Autoritatile sud-coreene cred ca hackerii asociati cu guvernul autoritar din Pyongyang foloseau vulnerabilitatea zero-day pentru a lansa atacuri asupra cercetatorilor sud-coreeni care lucreaza la proiecte despre Coreea de Nord. 

Simon Choi, cercetator de securitate din Coreea de Sud, si-a petrecut o mare parte din timp recent explorand defectiunea si saptamana trecuta a declarat ca, in opinia sa, hackerii nord-coreeni au inceput sa foloseasca defectiunea in luna noiembrie 2017.

"Vulnerabilitatea Flash zero-day a fost folosita de la jumatatea lunii noiembrie 2017. Au fost atacati sud-coreeni care desfasoara in principal munca de cercetare cu privire la Coreea de Nord", a scris Choi pe Twitter. 

Dupa ce saptamana trecuta a recunoscut defectiunea, Adobe a publicat in cele din urma un consultativ actualizat, emitand o solutie pentru problema. Compania a afirmat ca "are cunostinta de un raport potrivit caruia un exploit pentru CVE-2018-4878 exista in the wild si este folosit in atacuri limitate, orientate impotriva utilizatorilor Windows". 

"Aceste actualizari abordeaza vulnerabilitati critice care ar putea conduce la executarea codului de la distanta in Adobe Flash Player 28.0.0.137 si versiunile anterioare. Exploatarea cu succes ar putea permite unui atacator sa preia controlul asupra sistemului afectat", a continuat Adobe. 

Pe langa solutia pentru CVE-2018-4878, cea mai recenta lansare Adobe remediaza de asemenea CVE-2018-4877, evaluata drept critica si care poate permite hackerilor sa execute coduri de la distanta. Aceasta defectiune a fost descoperita de catre "bo13oy" din cadrul echipei Qihoo 360 Vulcan, care lucreaza alaturi de initiativa Trend Micro Zero Day. 

Adobe sustine ca vulnerabilitatea nu a fost folosita inca in atacuri cunoscute.

Anul trecut, compania a colaborat cu HackerOne pentru a introduce "Programul Google Play Security Reward Program", pe care firma il descrie ca fiind "primul si singurul program de recompensare a bug-urilor pentru un ecosistem de aplicatii". 

Desi programul ruleaza de doar cateva luni, Google a decis sa creasca valoarea recompenselor.

Acum, hackerii care identifica defectiuni de executare a codului de la distanta pot obtine pana la 5.000 dolari. Anterior, recompensa era limitata la 1.000 dolari. 

Google a implementat, de asemenea, o noua categorie pentru pragul de recompensa de 1.000 dolari, acoperind vulnerabilitatile care ar putea conduce la furtul de date cu caracter personal si de afaceri.

In plus, compania va recompensa persoanele care descopera "vulnerabilitatile care conduc la transferarea informatiilor sensibile necriptate sau bug-urile care duc la acces la componentele protejate ale aplicatiilor". 

Programul acopera o gama de aplicatii populare, inclusiv Dropbox, Tinder, Fitbit, Headspace, Pandora, Line, Duolingo si Alibaba.

HackerOne, o platforma independenta de recompense pentru bug-uri, a lucrat la program cu Google si sustine ca vor fi adaugate mai multe recompense pe masura ce dezvoltatorii vor opta sa participe la program.

"Clientii HackerOne au rezolvat deja peste 60.000 de vulnerabilitati de securitate valabile cu ajutorul celei mai mari comunitati de hackeri din lume", a sustinut compania. 

"Cu ajutorul dvs., vom remedia mai multe vulnerabilitati si vom face Android cea mai sigura platforma computing din lume pentru cele peste doua miliarde de dispozitive active". 

In aceasta saptamana, Google a oferit si alte detalii cu privire la modul in care s-a derulat programul pana acum, dezvaluind ca a platit in total 2.7 milioane dolari in 2017.

Cea mai mare recompensa a anului a fost de 112.500 dolari.

Somajul atinge cote alarmante in randul tinerilor europeni, afectand peste 15 milioane de persoane sub 30 de ani. De asemenea, deficitul de competente digitale continua sa creasca la nivel european in toate domeniile, in special in cazul noilor tehnologii, si limiteaza in mod semnificativ dezvoltarea mediului de afaceri. 

SIVECO Romania face parte din consortiul selectat de Comisia Europeana pentru implementarea proiectului pilot ECOKT2015, alaturi de firmele Expertise France - lider de consortiu, Dara Creative din Irlanda si Lai-momo din Italia. 

In cadrul proiectului ECOKT2015 este dezvoltata si implementata o platforma online de instruire, intitulata Compass, prin intermediul careia tinerii someri au acces la cursuri gratuite de perfectionare, in format digital.

Platforma Compass va fi LIVE in martie 2018, iar tinerii din Romania sunt invitati sa participe la procesul de selectie a grupului tinta din cadrul proiectului pilot ECOKT2015, coordonat de SIVECO Romania.

Partenerii consortiului pun la dispozitie 18 lectii digitizate (9 niveluri fondatoare si 9 niveluri avansate) care ii familiarizeaza pe tineri cu un mediu de lucru realist, cu respectarea anumitor obiective, proceduri si termene limita. Lectiile le vor dezvolta competentele digitale si le vor creste semnificativ sansele de a-si gasi un loc de munca. 

Platforma Compass este dezvoltata in baza principiilor cadrului DigComp (Cadrul European de Competente Digitale pentru Cetateni), care pune la dispozitia cetatenilor europeni instrumente de imbunatatire a competentei digitale in ceea ce priveste ocuparea fortei de munca, invatarea, petrecerea timpului liber, consumul si participarea in societate. 

Tinerii vor putea accesa cursurile online de oriunde, oricand, si le vor putea aprofunda in ritmul propriu, avand optiunea de a le repeta, ori de cate ori au nevoie. 

In etapa de cercetare a proiectului, au fost identificate grupurile de varsta vizate pentru platforma Compass:

- Grupul de varsta primar este format din persoane cu varste cuprinse intre 20 si 25 de ani, care au terminat invatamantul secundar si studiaza in invatamantul postliceal sau sunt in somaj si se afla in cautarea unui loc de munca;

- Grupul de varsta secundar este format din persoane cu varste cuprinse intre 26 si 30 de ani, care se afla in prezent fie in sistemul educational, fie in afara campului muncii, si sunt in cautarea unui loc de munca, cat si din persoane cu varste cuprinse intre 15 si 19 ani, aflati inca in sistemul educational si care doresc sa-si imbunatateasca abilitatile pentru un viitor loc de munca. 

Cele mai populare tipuri de cariere din toate cele patru tari (Romania, Franta, Irlanda si Italia) in care va fi implementat proiectul ECOKT2015 sunt:

Iridex Group Plastic, parte a grupului Iridex - lider in tehnologii de mediu, constructii civile si industriale, a prezentat noi solutii de management eficient al deseurilor in cadrul primei editii de anul acesta a Caravanei Smart City desfasurate saptamana trecuta la Deva.

In cadrul evenimentului, Iridex a realizat o trecere in revista a cerintelor pe care trebuie sa le indeplineasca Romania prin angajamentele luate in fata Uniunii Europene, cerinte prevazute in Planul National de Gestionare a Deseurilor (PNGD) aprobat in ianuarie 2018. Reprezentantii companiei Iridex au prezentat realizarile companiei in domeniul compostarii, prin construirea a 30% dintre statiile de compostare din Romania, precum si a pregatirilor pentru implementarea digestarii anaerobe pentru atingerea de catre Romania a tintei de reducere a depozitarii deseurilor cu 50% pana in 2020. 

Judetul Hunedoara, care acopera si zona defavorizata Valea Jiului, reprezinta o zona cu prioritate in implementarea de proiecte care sa sustina dezvoltarea regionala, precum si zona de schi din jurul statiunii Straja, zona cu potential de dezvoltare turistica. O alta regiune care necesita masive investitii pe partea de eficienta energetica o reprezinta CET Mintia.

La evenimentul de la Deva au participat reprezentanti ai autoritatilor publice locale, prefectul judetului Hunedoara, dl. Fabius Tiberiu Kiszely, Presedintele Consiliului Judetean dl. Mircea Flaviu Bobora, administratorul public al judetului, dl. Dan Stoian, precum si circa 50 de primari, viceprimari si adminstratori publici din tot judetul, fiind interesati de solutiile smart prezentate de Iridex. Printre solutiile prezentate, de un interes deosebit s-au numarat solutiile de eficientizare a iluminatului cu LED, reprezentantii Iridex fiind invitati la primariile din comunele hunedorene pentru detalierea si demonstratia solutiilor. 

Tot in cadrul Caravanei Smart City de la Deva, au fost prezentate solutiile de eficienta energetica dezvoltate de Iridex in parteneriat cu General Electric si Kapsch. Aceste sisteme au in vedere sistemele moderne de iluminat cu LED, precum si senzoristica si informatizarea instalatiilor din cladiri, solutii care permit ca Romania sa respecte angajamentul de reducere a consumului de energie cu 20% pana in 2020.

O alta solutie de gestionare inteligenta a deseurilor dezvoltata de Iridex in parteneriat cu Telekom, este solutia care poate identifica gradul de umplere al fiecarui container si a fiecari pubele, putand fi principiul “platesti cat arunci” si, mai mult decat atat, poate eficientiza traseul de colectare a acestor deseuri. 

Cele mai bune tehnici de management al deseurilor

Conform reglementarilor Comisiei Europene, au fost delimitate la nivel european cele mai bune tehnici de management al deseurilor disponibile, care sunt denumite generic BAT (Best Available Techniques). In Uniunea Europeana exista peste 1400 de instalatii de management al deseurilor, iar in Romania suntem la inceputul reglementarii si al educatiei corespunzatoare in privinta acestei teme extrem de sensibile a managemetului inteligent al deseurilor, compania Iridex fiind pregatita pentru implementarea celor mai eficiente solutii pentru smart waste management. 

In acest moment, unul dintre putinele depozite din Romania care aplica in practica recomandarile BAT europene este cel al Iridex de la Chiajna. La acest depozit, gazele de depozit sunt captate si transformate in energie electrica, in timp ce calitatea aerului este monitorizata permanent, deseurile care intra in depozit sunt sortate, deseurile biodegradabile sunt biostabilizate intr-o instalatie de compostare cu membrana semipermeabila, iar levigatul este colectat si tratat intr-o statie de epurare cu osmoza inversa.

Depozitul de la Chiajna proceseaza zilnic circa 1200 de tone de deseuri municipale si este singurul depozit de deseuri din Bucuresti care aplica in practica curenta recomandarile cuprinse in ghidurile BAT pentru domeniu. Experienta specialistilor Iridex si calitatea proiectelor realizate reprezinta o garantie al profesionalismului in implementarea solutiilor smart in domeniul public.

Google deja downgradeaza clasarea in pagini a paginilor care nu au securitatea activata si, cu 81 dintre cele mai bune 100 de site-uri pe interweb care utilizeaza acum HTTPS, exista sanse sa nu vedeti mesajul afisat de Chrome prea des. 

Declaratia Google sugereaza ca functia sa principala va fi aceea de a educa utilizatorul: "Noua interfata Chrome va ajuta utilizatorii sa inteleaga ca site-urile HTTP nu sunt sigure". 

HTTPS protejeaza deja 68% din traficul Chrome pe Android si Windows, precum si 78% pe Mac si Chrome OS. 

Schimbarea nu este neasteptata. Suportul limitat pentru semnalizarea site-uruilor nesigure a fost o parte a browserului de la lansarea Chrome 56, in urma cu 13 luni, insa a fost limitat la paginile care ofera input-uri pentru parole si informatii privind cardurile de credit. 

La acea vreme dezvoltatorii au fost avertizati ca aceasta modificare va interveni la o data ulterioara. 

Desi Chrome 68 nu va fi stabil inainte de luna iulie, va fi disponibil in canalul Canary din aprilie si in canalul Beta incepand cu luna mai.
